Overview

I’ve had the chance to work with Plus Communications, a part of Omnicomm Group, a Fortune 500 company, on an ongoing project focused on social intelligence. Plus Communications helps Fortune 500 companies and other organizations gain valuable insights into audience perceptions, market trends, and more. My role involves analyzing public conversations and identifying key trends that help shape strategies, campaigns, and business decisions.

Client Objectives and Scope of Work

Plus Communications uses social intelligence to track public sentiment and conversations around specific initiatives, topics, or industries. The goal is to gain a nuanced understanding of how audiences perceive their clients, uncover emerging trends, and assess market interest. These insights help the company’s clients—ranging from large corporations to small organizations—make informed decisions about their messaging, campaigns, and market strategies.

My work involves collaborating with the Plus Communications team daily, delivering a mix of daily, weekly, and monthly reports that track audience engagement, sentiment, and topic trends. I provide in-depth analysis using leading tools like Talkwalker and BuzzSumo, helping clients gain clarity on how they are perceived in the public sphere.

Tools, Techniques, and Methodology

To gather meaningful insights, I rely on a variety of social intelligence tools and data sources. The analysis spans Twitter, Reddit, TikTok, news outlets, blogs, and other online platforms. Using these tools, I track everything from social posts to articles and media coverage to gain a comprehensive view of audience engagement.

I also create tailored Boolean queries and conduct sentiment analysis to ensure that the reports highlight the most valuable insights. This includes identifying topic trends, key influencers, and regional sentiment shifts, all aimed at helping clients refine their strategies based on real-time data.

Insights and Impact

The reports I produce are filled with actionable insights that guide clients in understanding the broader narrative around their brands. For example, by tracking online conversations, we can pinpoint emerging perceptions or sudden shifts in sentiment, which can inform campaign adjustments or crisis management.

In one instance, a client was able to pivot messaging after uncovering that a key issue was gaining traction in specific communities online. These insights allow brands to remain agile and adjust their strategies quickly, keeping them ahead of the curve.

Adapting to Challenges and Evolving Reports

One of the most valuable aspects of this project has been its evolving nature. Social intelligence is never static, and reports must continuously adapt to reflect new trends, audience behaviors, and emerging platforms. I’ve learned to stay flexible, adjusting reporting structures and methodologies to best suit client needs as they evolve.

This process involves continuous feedback loops from the client, ensuring that the reports remain relevant and impactful. Through consistent collaboration, we fine-tune the focus of the reports to deliver the most relevant insights in the format that best suits the client’s goals.

Best Practices for Social Intelligence Projects

From this experience, I’ve honed several best practices for delivering impactful social intelligence insights:

  • Defining the scope of each report clearly, aligning with client objectives, avoids unnecessary noise and focuses on the most meaningful data.
  • Including in-depth analysis, rather than just presenting raw data, ensures the insights are actionable.
  • Having the right tools for the job—like Talkwalker and BuzzSumo—ensures that the data collected is comprehensive and reliable.
